Customer Reviews
Good value for filing
I was looking for something affordable to do my taxes and found TaxAct. I used the TaxAct Deluxe package. I managed to snag a pretty good early bird discount which made the federal filing much cheaper than I expected. The state filing was extra, but even with that, it felt like a fair price for what I got. Everything worked as it should, and I felt like I got good value for my money. It did exactly what I needed without breaking the bank.
Easy to use for federal
I used TaxAct Deluxe this year for my federal taxes and it was pretty straightforward. I had a W-2 and some investment income, and it guided me through everything. No real hiccups, which was nice. Took about an hour or so from start to finish. Good experience overall, felt pretty simple.
Loved TaxAct Self-Employed!
I just filed my taxes with TaxAct Self-Employed and it was fantastic! As a freelancer, I always dread tax season, but this made it so much easier. The interface was super clear, and it helped me track all my deductions without any stress. I even used their Xpert Assist feature for a quick question and the person I talked to was really helpful. Definitely using them again next year and telling all my self-employed friends!
Good for basic filing
Filed my federal return with TaxAct. It was quick and simple. No issues. Got my refund pretty fast.

I have a service code but where exactly do I punch it in? Can't seem to find the spot.
Hey, I'm trying to decide between TaxAct and TurboTax this year. Anyone have thoughts on which is better for someone with just W2s and maybe some stock sales?
Thinking of using TaxAct for my small business, I'm a sole proprietor. Anyone filed business taxes with them before? How was it?
Is TaxAct's Xpert Assist actually worth the extra cost? I've got some weird investment stuff this year and am a bit stumped.
Anyone know if TaxAct offers a refund advance like some of the other services?
Can I import my tax info from last year if I filed with TurboTax? Or do I have to manually enter everything again?
Does TaxAct still do a military discount? I saw something about it last year but can't find it now.
